Packing a Bag

The other night, Beth went to the Rotty’s house for a girl’s night so Clara and I got to hang out. I decided we’d go on a run. Clara always loves riding in her new stroller and I needed the exercise. So not long after Beth left, I started fixing Clara a snack for the road (a necessity). She was pretty interested in my preparation, so I told her that we were going to go on a walk. Well this got her really excited. She started running around the house repeating “Walk, Walk”.

Then, all on her own, she went and found her book bag that her Aunt Fifi gave her and started running around the house. Now, for some context, we usually grab a few toys to throw in there with her to keep her entertained on walks, but this was always done by us. The subsequent conversation went something like this:

“What are you doing with your bag?”

“Toys”

“Why are you getting toys?”

“Walk”

“What toys are you getting?”

“People, Crab”

We often pack things into that bag, like a change of clothes and a diaper for church, but this was the first time she packed it by herself. It was really cute and I love her choice of toys.

September 2012

So, it has been a long time! Also, I think I should note that this is my first blog post! Although I still hold that Jeff is the better writer, he has been rather busy lately so I may be taking over some of the narrating of the Rottman happenings. A lot has happened!  Here is just a brief recap of the last few months that we have neglected.

Here is Clara in her swaddle.  This was a huge help to us.  Initially, she would not have it.  We kept trying though and it became a definite necessity!

We had a visit from Memare and all took Clara for her first trip to the U of A.  First stop, Allegro, for the best gelato in town before walking to campus. Notice our Arizona gear…

We even wandered through all of the tailgates before a U of A football game.

Our first trip to the grocery store (just Clara and me) to Trader Joe’s, of course.  As you can see, Clara and her carseat take up most of the cart which makes shopping interesting.  We both made it unscathed!

Clara, Daddy, and Mortimer the Moose while I was away at an amazing women’s bible study (which I miss so much now).  One of the few times I was out of the house without our little girl.  It definitely felt funny not to have her in tow.

I know it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything (and I’ve caught a fair amount of flack for it) so I figured I would try to get back into it.  So rather than outlining everything Beth and I have done since last July I’m just going to post a spattering of pictures from that time.  Hope you enjoy!

New Blog

Beth and I decided that we needed to start a blog to allow friends and family to keep up with what we’re doing out here in Tucson.  I’ll probably be posting most often, with Beth throwing some in every so often.  We’ll be improving it as we go, so keep coming back.
