An effective business leader…

..is not just driven by numbers. He or she is a balance between keen business instincts and keen people instincts. A good leader not only has to help his or her team navigate the daily trials and tribulations of business, he or she has to know how to pivot seamlessly between handling crises and reveling in successes. It can be a lot to manage, both practically and personally, but a leader has no choice.

Through the years I have managed some very difficult events — from major downsizings, to mergers, management changes, rogue partners, 9/11, and even my own replacement on one occasion! Through these experiences I was honing my skills as an effective communicator, presenter, and mediator. I was able to handle these events while maintaining the respect and loyalty of employees at every stage, even through major downsizings and restructurings that saw many of their friends laid off. I also honored my staff on every possible occasion and celebrated their successes.

I excel in many areas, but I am at the top of the scale when it comes to communication skills — particularly writing and speaking. These skills have enabled me to lead and inspire teams in times of challenge and success. My ability to finesse a message and deliver it sensitively and effectively, even spontaneously, are well developed. Here are a few areas in which I excel:
